Effective July 1, 2021, HB987 established a licensure requirement for ALC/PCH 25+ administrators. Georgia rules and regulations requires proof of completion of a 14-hour pre-licensure program and passage of a written exam to be submitted to the LTC Board.
Participation in GSLA’s Certified Assisted Living Administrator (CALA) Course fulfills the pre-licensure program requirement including the provision of a written exam which can be submitted to the LTC upon receipt of an 85% or higher passing score.
Target Audience: Executive Directors, Community Secondary Licensee, Regional Staff, New Administrators
Participants will receive the following:
- Registration to the course
- All CALA Course Materials including books received onsite
- Required Exam
- GSLA submission of Exam to Senior Living U on behalf of the participant (should exam be completed onsite)
- Boxed Lunch and light refreshments both days
Note: Attendees must attend both days in full to receive credit for attendance. Attendees are also responsible for subsequent licensure application requirements, documentation, and licensure application costs.

For over 16 years Tricia Holloway has dedicated her career to senior living first in Florida helping to turn communities around and build from the ground up. Opening one of the first senior living communities in The Villages, FL, the geriatric playground for many seniors afforded her valuable experience. Upon moving to Georgia, Tricia joined The Arbor Company as an executive director at Arbor Terrace Crabapple, where she has served since 2020. As an active board member of GSLA, Tricia enjoys serving the seniors of Georgia and helping to establish GA as a premiere senior living destination.
Bear Mahon joined the senior living industry because of a calling to serve others. His introduction to senior living came through the therapy and rehabilitation field, and during his 22-year career in the industry, he’s gained experience in the healthcare industry in acquisition and mergers, corporate development, multi-state portfolio management, and ancillary care services.
Mahon began his career in Georgia as an Activities Director and Rehabilitation Coordinator, and beginning in 2000, he served as Executive Director and Area Operations Manager for CaraVita Senior Care. Following his work at CaraVita, Mahon continued to excel in the field. He spent over a decade serving in multiple roles with Emeritus Senior Living and Brookdale, including District Director of Operations, Regional Vice President, and Vice President of Community and Field Operations. Bear returned to CaraVita after 14 years to serve as the President and COO of CaraVita Senior Care. In addition, Bear is also the CEO and President of Oaks Senior Living.
Kathy Rainwater-Roe is the Corporate Director of Community Partnerships with Phoenix Senior Living. She has served in the Senior Living Industry for more than 14 years, focusing on sales and marketing, as well as operations management. Kathy has managed up to ten communities within the southeast region and enjoys the challenges that each community culture brings. Kathy now focuses on the Atlanta market building relationships with government offices, local chambers, city businesses, and non-profit organizations to become better partners within the city they serve. Kathy has a passion for building a culture that will promote loyalty, integrity, and originality. When not working, Kathy enjoys spending time with family and working in her garden.
