GSLA PAC Priorities

Issues Supported:

State Programs Encouraging Savings for Long Term Care
  • GSLA PAC supports programs and services that encourage individuals to save for their long term care needs and allow seniors to live in the least restrictive and most integrated setting of their choice.
Shaping the Veterans Administration Aid & Attendance Program
  • GSLA PAC supports efforts to protect vulnerable seniors from financial exploitation while ensuring eligible veterans receive the benefits that they are entitled to receive.
Ending Alzheimer's Disease by 2025
  • GSLA PAC support implementation of policies which aim to effectively prevent and treat Alzheimer's disease by 2025.
Protecting Senior Living Providers’ Right to Disqualify Applicants Based on Criminal History
  • GSLA PAC supports the protection of senior living residents through the use of background checks in hiring decisions and does not support enforcement of policies that limit providers’ ability to conduct and utilize background checks.

Issues Opposed:

Federal Oversight of Assisted Living
  • Oversight of assisted living should remain at the state level.
Employee Free Choice Act
  • Would take away employees’ right to a secret ballot in union elections and policies allowing unions more access to the workplace and “quickie” elections.
Arbitration Fairness Act
  • Would prevent assisted living providers from engaging in pre-dispute arbitration with consumers

General Education
Continue to build relationships with and educate Members of the Georgia General Assembly and their staff on the philosophy of senior living and our core principles of choice, independence, dignity and quality of life.
