Inner Facility Fire and Life Safety Caregiver Program

Join us for this brand-new curriculum from the Georgia Office of the Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner. Become an approved instructor and train your facility's staff in accordance with Georgia Code requirements. This course equips Facility and Maintenance staff, Administrators, and your Community Leadership with the knowledge to deliver required Fire and Life Safety Caregiver Training.

Topics include fire behavior, fire protection systems, evacuation planning and drills, burn prevention, special evacuation procedures, and fire safety education. Participants must pass a 20-question exam with a score of 75% or higher to become certified.

Georgia Caregiver Code:
Rules and Regulations of the State of Georgia require all directors, operators, and staff members of daycare facilities—both adult and child facilities—as well as administrators, directors, operators, and staff of Group I‑1 and Group R‑4 assisted living communities, assisted living facilities, community living arrangements, memory care units, personal care homes, and residential board‑and‑care homes to successfully complete the Georgia Caregiver Fire and Life Safety Training and obtain a student caregiver certificate. These requirements are defined in Chapter 2 of the Georgia Code and the Life Safety Code, as adopted by Chapter 120‑3‑3 of the Rules and Regulations of the Georgia Safety Fire Commissioner.

Kelly Sizemore Kelly Sizemore is the North Georgia Community Risk Reduction Supervisor and handles the Metro Atlanta Region. She retired from DeKalb County Fire Rescue in 2021 after a 25-year career. She was a paramedic and a firefighter, and then transitioned to the Public Education Unit, when she became Captain, to bring safety programs to schools and businesses throughout DeKalb. Kelly has been with the Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire since November of 2025. She has a Bachelors in Business Administration with a focus on Project Management and she is currently pursuing her Masters in Instructional Design and Technology. Kelly has been married for almost 21 years, and she has two teenage boys (and a lot of gray hair). She also has three dogs (which are secretly her favorite kids.) And when she is not a glutton for punishment, she likes to travel.
