Eddie Lumsden was elected to state office in November of 2012. He represents the 12th State House District. His district includes all of Chattooga County and a portion of Floyd County.
Eddie Lumsden is a lifelong resident of Floyd County. He is a graduate of Armuchee High School, Floyd College and Berry College. He is a Veteran, a retired State Trooper and a Small Business owner. Immediately after graduating from High School, Eddie joined the Air Force/Air Guard. He spent six years serving his country. After completing active service, he returned to Floyd County where he attended Floyd College. While attending college he went to work with the Georgia State Patrol as a way to pay for college. It turned into a twenty-seven-year career. He retired as a Master Trooper in 1999. He earned an Associate’s Degree from Floyd College and went on to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Public Relations from Berry College.
Eddie married his childhood sweetheart, Teresa Pearson. They have two daughters, Julie and Rebecca. They have four grandchildren. Eddie and Teresa have been married for forty years.
In 1988 Teresa and Eddie started “Teresa Lumsden Insurance Agency Inc.” They have owned and operated it successfully for twenty-five years.
Prior to seeking state office Eddie was twice elected to the Floyd County Commission. He served five years before stepping down to run for State Office. He served as Chairman in 2010 and 2011.
Eddie has been involved in his community for many years. He is an active member of the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Armuchee Ruritan Club, a member of the American Legion Post #5 and an Affiliate Member of the Rome Board of Realtors. He was appointed by Governor Perdue to the State Consumer Advisory Board and has served in that role for the past six years. He is a Deacon, Decision Counselor and Worship Leader at West Rome Baptist Church where he has been a member for 28 years.
