Gregory (Greg) G. Grove
President, The Guardian Foundation, Inc.
Greg Grove is a Director and the President of The Guardian Foundation, Inc. ("GF") and of each of its affiliates. GF was incorporated as a non-profit corporation on March 9, 1989 under the non-profit corporation laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is operated exclusively for public charitable purposes. It was organized to provide services to its affiliated entities which are separately incorporated to establish, acquire, own, and maintain nursing homes, hospitals, and related health care facilities, as well as retirement housing for elderly persons, and to thereafter own and operate (generally through management contracts with third parties) such facilities for charitable purposes. The primary focus of the affiliates is the long term care industry, including facilities for the developmentally disabled.
As president and a member of the board of directors of GF, Greg has overseen the growth and development of The Guardian Foundation, Inc. and the operation of forty health care and senior housing facilities. His duties have included the day to day oversight and management of the organization, responsibility for its financial and operational activities, negotiating and financing the acquisition of facilities, establishment of operating procedures and policies, and overseeing the management and operations of the affiliates’ health care facilities.
At present, there are about a dozen active affiliated entities which own and operate facilities as non-profit corporations created under the non-profit laws of the Commonwealths of Kentucky, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania, and the States of Florida, Georgia and Mississippi. These affiliates operate eight skilled nursing facilities located in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Kentucky; six residential facilities and nineteen six-bed group homes for the developmentally disabled in Florida; and five day program service facilities for the developmentally disabled in Mississippi and Florida. Guardian’s affiliated entities provide services for 1,900 resident units and program participants and collectively employ more than 1,900 full and part time employees.
Greg was a co-founder of Grove Capital Corporation which was formed in late 1983 to provide investment banking and underwriting services to the health care industry and to small industrial corporations. Since its inception, the firm has underwritten or acted as financial advisor or placement agent for in excess of fifty financings aggregating over $300,000,000, the majority of which financed health care facilities.
Prior to relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, in 1983, Greg was a First Vice President with the firm of Shearson American Express in New York City. From 1978 to 1982 he was with the investment banking firm of Oppenheimer & Company, Inc., which included several years in its New York headquarters in the Financial Services Department.
Greg began his career in the investment banking and securities industry in 1972 with the firm of Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith following his obtaining a graduate degree of Masters of Business Administration at Tulane University and his graduation from the University of North Carolina with a Bachelors of Arts degree in science.
Greg was for many years registered with the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. as a Municipal Securities Principal, General Securities Principal, Registered Representative, and Financial and Operations Principal.
