Making it Matter: Senior Living Advocacy at Work!
GSLA encourages our members to become active in the legislative process. We believe our Provider and Industry Partner Members can make a difference at the grassroots level by building relationships with their state and federal elected officials! Your work at the grassroots level is an essential component of the success of GSLA's advocacy agenda and legislative priorities. No individual nor legislator can know and appreciate every aspect of every issue. Instead, legislators look to the people in their communities with hands-on knowledge and experience to provide critical information and perspectives. We, as special interest groups, are often a necessary tool to make positive grassroots change in public policy.
Because your influence matters, GSLA has developed this Advocacy Tool Kit to support our Members in their efforts to build relationships with legislators and advocate for policies that support the senior living industry.
From time to time, the Association may call on our Members to assist with a legislative matter. While the GSLA staff, Board, and Government Affairs Committee educate our state Legislatures and Members of Congress on industry needs, the best advocates are you - the constituents. Elected officials depend on hearing from constituents and subject matter experts to gather insights and shape their policy decisions: the decisions that may affect you, your business, and your residents.
