In 2017 GSLA and it's members are seeking legislative support for:
House Bill 486 provides for the training of proxy caregivers including implementing the health maintenance activity of medication administration by proxy caregivers.
Chairman Tommy Benton of the Human Relations and Aging Committee
House Resolution 388 creates a study committee on “Meeting the Demands for Nursing Care in Georgia.”

GSLA's 2016 Advocacy Day at the Georgia State Capitol was a huge success!
GSLA Members and Leadership convened under the golden dome to participate in the association’s 2016 Advocacy Day. Contacts were made with House of Representatives members and members of the Senate. The group also had an opportunity to meet with State Fire Marshal Dwayne Garriss.
GSLA Members met with their legislators and asked for their support on the key bills before the Georgia Legislature that GSLA has an interest in following. They are:
HB 902 to provide for educational information on influenza disease to residents of Assisted Living Communities.
Status of HB 902 – The bill is now in the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, chaired by Chairman Renee Unterman.
HB 920 to limit lawsuits against nursing homes or intermediate care homes for personal injury or death to claims against licensee management or consulting company and prohibits claims against passive investors at such facilities and homes.
Status of HB 920 – The bill is now in the House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Chairman Wendell Willard.
